Sachse to Relax Water Rules
Full Description:
Sachse City Manager Allen Barnes announced today that beginning July 1, 2007, the City of Sachse will relax the Stage III Drought Restrictions that have been in place since June 2006. While the City will remain at Stage III Restrictions, residents will be allowed to water twice weekly and to wash their cars.
On July 1st, residents with addresses ending in an even number (0, 2, 4, 6 or 8) will be permitted to water their lawns on Sundays and Thursdays and those with addresses that end in an odd number (1, 3, 5, 7 or 9) will be allowed to water on Saturdays and Wednesdays. Residents will be allowed to water during the hours of 12:00 a.m. (midnight) until 10:00 a.m. and from 6:00 p.m. until 11:59 p.m. on their designated days.
Residents will be allowed to wash any motor vehicle, motorbike, boat, trailer or other vehicle on their watering days during the hours listed above. Such washing, when allowed, shall be done with a hand-held bucket or hand-held hose equipped with a positive shutoff valve for quick releases. Vehicle washing may take place at any time on the premises of a commercial car wash or a commercial service station. Further, such washing may be exempted from these regulations if the health, safety, and welfare of the public is contingent upon frequent vehicle cleansing, such as garbage trucks and ambulances.
All other Stage III restrictions will remain in place. Residents are encouraged to continue to conserve water. In the event that drought conditions continue through the summer, the City may reinstate the full Stage III restrictions. Barnes said "the key to making the newly relaxed restrictions work will continue to be the conservation efforts of our residents. We encourage everyone to think about the importance of water conservation and think about their water use."
